Tuneless Choir to launch in Bromley

A new choir is launching in Bromley – it actually wants people who can’t sing in tune!

The Bromley Tuneless Choir is coming to Bromley Common Methodist Church on Thursday 18th September. And yes, it’s for those who lack the ability, confidence or practice to sing in tune!

Members will belt out classics from the 60s to the 90s and beyond. You can expect anything from Queen to Adele and Abba to Elvis, The Beatles, Motown, Madonna, Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones – you name it! A real feast of hits with something for everyone.
Bromley Tuneless will be the local branch of the expanding Tuneless Choir network. The group will be led by Christina Carty, who has lived close by in Lewisham for 20 years.

She says “in my usual work, it’s all about getting songs right to the smallest detail. At Tuneless it’s the exact opposite! It’s about just enjoying singing and loving that feeling – like having a weekly karaoke party really. I meet so many people who say, “I love singing but I’m rubbish at it!” or “my mates say I couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket!”. Well, this is the perfect place for them to go for it without a care in the world.
“Singing like no one is listening!” is our motto”.

“If you’ve ever sung your heart out at a concert or even a footie match, you know how good that feeling of community is. Singing gets our endorphins flowing, which are known as the happy hormones,” Christina explains, “so as well as reducing stress it can help with anxiety and depression. It’s even been shown to help boost the immune system. Most of all though, it’s just a wonderful thing to do with other people.”

Bromley Tuneless will be the first in SE London. “I chose Bromley because I’ve known the area for many years. It’s a community where people are super sociable and love to have fun at local events. There was nothing like Tuneless available for people who love to sing, so I knew it was the right place!”

Along with singing classic hits, there will be regular themed nights like Motown, Musicals, Divas, Rock Gods and more. “If you’ve never had the courage to sing karaoke on your own, this choir is perfect because you get to sing those songs with dozens of other people instead. You’re bound to make new friends and go home feeling completely uplifted!” Christina said.

The choir will run weekly on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm-9pm at Bromley Common Methodist Church, Bloomfield Rd, Bromley BR2 9RZ. For the launch on 18th September, doors will open at 7pm.
Tickets for the launch are £12.50 (including registration) and can be booked at Https://www.tunelesschoir.com/product/bromley-tuneless-choir-launch-tickets/ or go to www.tunelesschoir.com/bromley

After joining the choir, members will be able to get discounts for block bookings or attend on a pay as you go basis for £10.

Christina can’t wait to bring the euphoria of Tuneless to Bromley. “Singing like no one is listening is the best medicine” she said “and whatever kind of week you’ve had, you will come away feeling fantastic!”
