What a £300,000 home looks like in these South London boroughs

We all know London has a reputation for being horrifically expensive – especially when it comes to property.

And in many ways, we can’t lie – it’s true!

But this doesn’t always have to be the case, and when we look in the right places, we can definitely get more for our money.

Certainly when we head to the outer boroughs, house prices can get a little less terrifying…

Take a look at South London, for example, where £300,000 can get you more than you might think in some of its boroughs.

You’re still not going to get a whopping big house or a nice big garden every time. But it’s better than what you might get in the centre of London (if you could get anything at all in Zone 1 for the same price!)

For those looking to buy a property in London, or simply for Londoners who love a good nosy (guilty as charged), here is what £300,000 can get you in Croydon, Lewisham, Sutton, Bromley and Merton on Rightmove right now…

2-bedroom maisonette in St Dunstans Road, South Norwood

A spacious maisonette with a private entrance, two bedrooms, a loft space, and a decent back garden? With links from Norwood Junction station into Central London?

We could definitely do worse.

3-bedroom flat in Sydenham Road, Sydenham

Yes it’s on a main road, and yes it’s above a row of shops. But inside is light, empty and super spacious – perfect for making the flat exactly how you want it. Plus, three bedrooms in one property is not something we should be turning up our noses at.

2-bedroom split level maisonette in Shott Close, Sutton

Not being funny, but we would be paying some serious money for a property like this in other areas of London. There’s so much to love about this picturesque maisonette (also featured in the main article image above). Up top you’ll find two double bedrooms and a spacious family bathroom, or head to the ground floor where there is a well sized kitchen and spacious reception room. Perfect!

2-bedroom terraced house in Lower Road, Orpington

It’s not a flat…it’s not a maisonette…but it’s a full blown house in Bromley! This two-bed terraced would make for a lovely and light family home, filled with period features in a prime location.

Besides, how could you say no to a garden like that?

2-bedroom maisonette in Eldertree Way, Mitcham

How pretty is this maisonette though? We would definitely feel like we were living in a fairy-tale living on the lovely ‘Eldertree Way’. And with a spacious ground floor property, private back garden, and a train station just nearby, it really would be a dream come true!
