Some of South London’s most loved and treasured locations have been revealed to be dogging hotspots.
Dogging is the practice of engaging in public sex while others watch. It normally takes place in secluded but public spaces, like car parks and wooded areas.
South London has plenty it seems, as there are at least 31 spots for dogging which have been posted online, including the car parks of two different Iceland supermarkets, both in Bromley.
Other more recognisable landmarks include the O2 Arena, Crystal Palace Park and even Wimbledon Common.
For obvious reasons, the practice of dogging is usually reserved for after the sun sets and there are rules that are complied with if you want to be part of the action.

Isn’t dogging illegal?
Despite what many people think, dogging is not actually illegal, however there are laws which allow the police to take action against members of the public caught in the act.
Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, police can charge anyone caught dogging with indecent exposure, public lewdness or gross indecency.
According to some of the websites which specialise in the topic, these are reportedly some of the most notorious local dogging hotspots:
Biggin Hill, Bromley
According to one site the public toilets in Leaves Green is a popular spot for those who enjoy “dogging all day”, we’ll take their word for it.
Kenley Common , Caterham
One website suggests Fridays and Saturdays are the times to visit, adding that “there is a wooded area and so hiding places to have some fun”.
Blackhorse Lane, Woodside
Apparently there is a spot close to the tram stop that’s a favourite meeting place. Maybe it is best not to look out of the window next time you are passing on the tram!
Coombe Lane, Croydon
One reviewer advises on exactly how to get on all the action at Coombe Lane: “Look for Oaks Lane on the left. Turn left and immediately turn into a dirt car parking area. Walk away from the entrance towards a brick structure at the end, on the right are a couple of paths into the bushes and some clearings with plenty of evidence of action”. We will leave you to imagine what such evidence might look like.
Jubilee Country Park, Petts Wood, Bromley
A user on one site said the car park in the woods is used for “fun” during the day and in the early evening. If you say so.
Crystal Palace Park
One excited reviewer exclaims: “This is a perfect place for dogging. Go down Anerley Hill just after Crystal Palace Museum is an entrance on your left to the park. There is a barrier up so you need to park up in Anerley Hill, walk into the park and on the left is a wooded area. It is very dark.” At least that suggests they aren’t visiting during daylight hours!
South Norwood Country Park
One desperate writer says that this is a perfect spot for “low key sex” but complains that there are “too many men – we need a lot more women”. The life of a dogger is never easy.
Purley Way, Croydon
This tipster recommends a small woodland car park off Purley Way. We can’t picture where that would be. Which is maybe for the best.
Bromley College car park, Bromley
Apparently the college green is popular spot.
Harvington Woods, Beckenham
This is described as a new spot. One to watch perhaps as it rises up the, er, pecking order.
Think of the things those poor Wombles must have seen.
Bromley Common, Bromley
There are over 300 frisky doggers who advertise themselves as regulars to the Bromley Common love making site.
Foots Cray, Bexley
Best time to visit? “Woods on the side of the road, Friday and Saturday nights after 11 said one used on Swinger Nation. Thanks for the heads-up!
Surrey Quays Leisure Park
Apparently there is a spot near the cafe where there are no security cameras. And there we were thinking your average dogger would have thrived on the extra thrill of being on CCTV!
A younger crowd is promised here – although we don’t know how that translates to in dogging years!
Burgess Park , Southwark
Apparently the regeneration of the park has led to a plethora of prime spots for doggers to choose from. When the planners designed the revamp we doubt that was their intention.
The O2, Greenwich
Being a busy area, especially on weekends, it be a surprise to learn the car park at The O2 sometimes is used by doggers who advertise their activities on one site.
Iceland car park, Petts Wood, Bromley
The rear of the supermarket car park doesn’t have much surveillance going on in form of CCTV meaning this spot is the perfect haven for doggers who arrive in the early hours, apparently.
Iceland car park, Station Square, Bromley
Seriously Bromley? Why Iceland again?
Commons seem to be, erm, common spots for dogging.
Tooting Bec Common
One tipster says he had a great time here. We imagine they just met for a chat and a coffee .
Oxleas Wood, Greenwich
One user says there is “good couples dogging action” and was a “well kept secret”. It all happens in the car park at the top of Shooters Hill in case you were wondering.

Nugent retail park, Orpington
We thought this place was handy for a quick Nandos, turns out there are “some good sessions at the back by the bridge” according to one user.
Mottingham sports fields, Bromley
The massive field leads into a very woodland area making it a “very secluded’ spot according to users. But sounds creepy to me.
Shooters Hill, Lewisham
Well, with a name like that, it just had to be.
One helpful tipster says that you will catch “occasional couples putting on a show”. I’ll cancel those theatre tickets then.
Orpington library car park
It’s important to keep fighting to keep libraries open, but maybe they might want to close the car park at night?
Thames Barrier Park, Woolwich
Known for it’s manicured hedges.
Norman Park, Bromley
Norman Park’s Wikipedia page says it is “popular with joggers, cyclists and dog-walkers” but makes no mention of the doggers who apparently frequent the place.
Lakeside Event Centre, Bexley
The location was used in grungy E4 sci-fi drama Misfits, where delinquent teens get superpowers in a storm. That’s something you can talk about if you do decide to pa a visit.
Beckenham Place Park, Lewisham
There’s a truly glorious Georgian mansion you can visit during the day but doggers are more interested in the significantly less grand visitors car park apparently
