Every single penny raised from ticket sales and donations will be sent directly to the local community in Kumamoto\, ensuring that funds are deployed where they are needed most during their long road to recovery. \n  \nA Cause Close to My Heart \nFor me\, this cause is profoundly personal. When the major earthquake struck Kumamoto\, my 90-year-old mother-in-law miraculously escaped total disaster because she happened to be in the kitchen when her home was flattened . Had the tremor occurred during the night\, the outcome would have been tragic. \n  \nToday\, she resides in a community centre alongside roughly 200 others\, sleeping on a communal floor after losing everything . Similarly\, my sister-in-law survived with severe structural damage to her home\, forcing her and hundreds of neighbours to sleep in cars parked in open fields out of fear of aftershocks . Months after the initial disaster\, many families continue to live without reliable electricity or running water . By joining us for this show\, you are directly contributing to the rebuilding of these shattered lives. \n  \nWorld-Class Performers Donating Their Time \nThe success of this evening is made possible by the extraordinary generosity of my fellow performers\, all of whom are giving their time entirely free of charge . It also reflects BLT’s growing role as a community hub\, providing a welcoming home for charities\, local organisations and creative groups throughout the year. \nThe week-long programme will feature performances\, workshops\, rehearsals\, spoken word\, poetry and community events\, highlighting both established and emerging local talent. \nAmong the festival highlights are: \n\nWritten Off\, a new play by Simon Holland\, which is set to appear at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.\nA poetry reading by local poet Annie Cowell.\nA spoken-word performance by Eileen Mahony\, who will also be appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.\nAn open rehearsal offering audiences a behind-the-scenes glimpse of an upcoming BLT production.\n\nThe festival will also celebrate the diversity of Bromley through events including: \n\nA Tamil Community Event\, presented by members of Vidhainel and showcasing local talent.\nA Soul Food Café\, hosted by the Black Heroes Foundation\, combining storytelling\, conversation and music.\n\nIn addition\, organisations including Quest\, CASPA\, U3A\, and the Bromley Civic Society will be taking part in the festival programme.
